Hello! So we did it - my husband and I gave up our home in Wellington and made the move to the Hawkes Bay. (Don't worry I'm still offering design services nationwide!)
Now that most of the boxes are unpacked and I'm not running around like a headless chicken, I can keep you posted about what I'm up to. Right now we are renting this little lady while we hunt for the perfect villa to buy and renovate. So far no luck but as soon as we find 'the one' I'll let you know!

Zig Zag Dubrovnik

Hello! I'm homeward bound now, enjoying the last few days of my holiday in Rome and then Bangkok. Just over a week ago I was in Dubrovnik and managed to get a last minute deal on a beautiful little one bedroom apartment right in the heart of the old town. The apartment was part of a portfolio of rooms to let by Zig Zag and I highly recommend them if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Croatia! I especially loved the shaker-profile IKEA kitchen in charcoal grey.

The White Buck

Last week we stopped at a lovely pub in the New Forest with the most beautiful traditional decor. Everything was considered, from the mismatched chairs to the eclectic and vintage accessories, light fixtures and even cutlery. They do beautiful guest rooms too. 420 Punt Melbourne

Hello! I thought I'd share with you some of the cool places I've come across so far on my travels. Last week we stayed in Melbourne and decided against accommodation in the city instead opting for a B&B in South Yarra, called 420 Punt. It's only a small guest house but it's been lovingly decorated and it was so nice to stay in one of the traditional suburban houses in one of Melbournes trendy neighbourhoods. This fancy cone thingee is actually a sophisticated music player. But honestly I don't care about all the things it can do, I just want one because it looks sooo cool.

My husband and I desperately need a double desk/computer situation at the moment. We are both frantically trying to finish off work before we head off across the world next week.

Old vs New

You only need to take a look at my website to see I'm an advocate for affordable design.
Sometimes it is easy to get attracted by something sparkly and new, but don't forget some trends have been around before. Here is a perfect example of old vs new. There is so much rattan around - (FYI I love it, I hope it never goes out of style)
These chairs are $150.00 for two on Trade Me (granted the cushions need recovering)

Versus this chair (which is lovely and new) but cost a whopping $550 each. Moral of the story, don't forget to shop around!
