5 Things Pleasing 13/04/14

This week a cool new apothecary shop opened up in Wellington and it has inspired me to base this weeks five things pleasing on nature.

1. I love the look of The Apothecary Shop Wellington - smells amazing and filled to the brim with teas and herbal remedies.

2. Lately I have been toying with the idea of trying to come up with my own nature-inspired light fitting which can be made from items found either on the beach or in the park. I have been doing a little research to see what other DIY light fittings are out there and found some incredible examples. I will keep you posted on where I get to with coming up with my own.

3. I recently put together a scheme incorporating vintage botanic prints. You can buy them relatively cheap on Etsy (Endemic world do a couple of cool ones too). I think they make a great affordable art-work option.

4. This week I met with a rep for Artisan and got to have a nosey at some of their amazing rugs. I particularly love their huge range of sisal which has a beautiful raw natural appearance.

5.  Have you ever thought about hanging baskets on the wall? I am definitely considering it after seeing these pics!!

On this cold and wet Wellington day I just want to curl up in a big white bed.

5 Things Pleasing 6/4/2014

My weekly round up this week.

1. In the most recent Home Adore magazine they featured Perth Bistro Guillaume. I am in love with the vivid greens, the combination of textures-the glossy tiles, the leather benches, the mosaics, the carpets...I could go on. I particularly love the lights which look like flower buds pre-bloom and how their round shape is replicated in the chairs...what an amazing space.

2. Catherine Martin Metropolis collection has been out for a little while now but I got to see some of the fabrics in person this week and so I have a renewed love of her glamorous designs. I particularly love the gold wallpapers.

3. H&M have go some seriouuuusly cool homewares in their collection. I spent nearly an hour trawling through the online shop this week. And now NZ Post makes it possible to ship their products here - yess! They have some really affordable rugs too.

4. I came across this image and I love the opulence of the shower curtain in contrast to the contemporary bathroom...particularly in combination with the black floorboards. It is so simple yet so visually striking.

5. And...well I like this. I'm all about the motivational posters lately.

Homage to doggies

Have you noticed that quite often dogs feature in interior decor photographs? I think it is because dogs make a home (and destroy it). Here are some sweet shots I've come across.

5 Things Pleasing 30/3/14

Slight delay, but here are my five things pleasing for last week.

1. I keep seeing the word LOVE appear in home schemes. Spot the LOVE.

2. I think you either love or hate the idea of a bathtub in the bedroom. To me it screams ultimate luxury and I particularly love this example:

3. I love this idea of stringing leaves as decoration above a dining table.
(not sure)
4. One of my fav places to visit when road-tripping to Napier is Bridge cafe in the Manuatu Gorge. It has the most beautiful garden and rustic interior - check it out next time you are out that way.

5. My other fav place to stop is Box of Birds, an amazing homewares shop in Shannon.
