Kitchen splashbacks

I have been looking at options for splashbacks in the kitchen and am trying to decide between glass or tiles. I like the idea of having white tiles, but then I came across this picture incorporating a pattern of black and white tiles in a geometric pattern.  I think it is a great way of giving the kitchen a unique look. I love it how they have tied it all together by adding floating black shelf above the tiles.
